Kamala Das is Indian Poets
The Poem “My Grand Mother’s House” has been written by Kamala Das.He was born in 1934 in Punnayurkulam died in 2009 in Pune.who is a famous Indian poetess.She wrote many poems in Malayalam language and some poems in English .She mainly writes poems on the theme of sex and lust but the present poem is free from sex and lust. It is one of her best poems in English.In this poem she has higlighted her childhood with her grandmother when they used to live toghter in a small village of South India. After the death of her grand mother all her membersof family come to another place to leave Grand mother’s house .The poetesshas grown old but she is unable to forget the memory of her grand mother and she wants to go to the village because the house reminds her childhood and grandmother’s love but the members of her family do not allow her to go there because the house of the village has because very old and it may fall down on someone.The poetess herself feels as a stranger in her house because she is not getting true love towards her family .She is not happy because of changed time .
Keki N. Daruwala is Indian Poets
The Poem “Fire Hymn” has been written by Keki N. Daruwalla.He is an indo Anglian Poet .He is Parsi . He won the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1984. He is a very famous poet in India .In this poem , the poet describes a ghat where dead body is went.Oneday the poet is wandering with his father nearby a ghat.He sees the red-hot embers still glowing many hours after a dead body has been cremated .He is shocked because parsi instead of cremating their dead bodies carry it to the “Tower of Silence” to put there in.He is horrified to see such cruel act.The poet once twenty five years back had consigned his first child to the flames because the tower of silence was far away from his residence . The poet says that to burn a dead body is an inhuman act. He regrets that he had consigned his child to the fire.He says that he has committed a sin by doing this inhuman act. He asks forgiveness. This is one of his finest and most memorable poems.
